Let's get started

I've been following this Tribe in the background, but jioned up 'cuz I have something to say.

Let's get started.

1st let me say, I am a retail person (and love it).
But if we really want to spark debate and see this happen, we better do something to get started.

Here's my plan:

1. Invite a couple of people you know here to this Tribe. Search specifically for Retail Employees.

2. Get a Banner ad place here with Tribe. I did for another Tribe and it pops up amoungst the other ads over on the right --->

3. Set a date for the 1st Non-Sunday Shopping event.

4. Promote an ongoing regular Non-Sunday Shopping Day, like the 1st Sunday of the month.

5. As this sinks in, next encourage people to stay on of the Wal-Mart type store on Sundays the rest of the month.

I don't think there could/should be a law. Consumers choose and consumers are smart. The people should pick.

Let's give it a shot.

I love that I saw this forum. I have wanted this bustling consumer-happy country to chill for a day too. I am religious and do think it's a good idea for God related reasons.
BUT aside from religion, America needs a day to calm the heck down. Our country was rated like no. 3 on most stressful countried to live in. .hmmm I'll go search for the article, try to post it later. We are a stressed out people. Stress leads to all kinds of problems.

Also, society could be greatly improved by spending time with families! I live in Germany and much of the German economy closes down Sundays. The streets are quiet and families often do church, have dinner together and seems they all take long walks after dinner. Wouln't that be great if America could do that. ..now only if we could find a way to turn the t.v. off.

So, what would have to stay open on Sundays? I can think of hospitals and police/fireman...

And how would we go about influencing society-at-large that this would be a good thing?

Too bad Sunday shopping will most likely keep-on-keepin'-on! I'm all for the boycotting, though - I think it's a great idea.

I feel it may be a good thing to do this.

Why choose sunday the first day of the week ... How about Saturday the last day of the week?
